Famous Nigerian-American singer, Jidenna was voted as the winner of the Best New Artist award at the 2015 Soul Train Awards held on Sunday, November 29.

The singer who has lived most of his life in the US, has had a lot of controversy of recent, since he began associating himself with Nigeria in recent times.

Jidenna while accepting his award, recalled how his father pushed him to be the best, as the award seems to be proof of this.
Jidenna made mention of a time when he brought home a test from school with a 98 score, and instead of a pat on the back, his father asked him: “Where are your other two points?”.
The singer has definitely earned this award.

He doesn’t have an album out yet, but congrats are in order for rapper Jidenna who won Best New Artist Award at the 2015 Soul Train Awards!

During his acceptance speech, Janelle Monae’s Wondaland Records protégé  recalled how his father pushed him to be the best, recalling a time when he brought home a test from school with a 98 score. “Where are your other two points?” he father asked. Looks like he’s living up to his father’s standards!

His song “Classic Man” stirred up the airwaves this past summer and his suits made it cool for the young fellas to rock tailored suits again.

Congrats bro!
