There might be hope. According to TMZ, Shmurda could be getting released from jail as early as Thursday, which is kind of surprising since it was recently reported that he’d spend more than a year in jail before going to trial.
So, how exactly could Shmurda’s release go down?
A source told the website that one of the rapper’s aunts has put several properties up as collateral for the MC’s $2 million bond. The family and bondsman Ira Judelson reportedly have a 200-page doc which describes the source of the money and they believe this plan is “bulletproof.” They’re reportedly looking to present this to a judge soon.
While that news is enough to provide some optimism, Shmurda’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, has not commented on the matter.
Shmurda’s release has been much-discussed since his arrest. At first, the rapper said he thought Epic Records would help get him out. “When I got locked up, I thought they were going to come for me,” he told The New York Times in February. “But they never came.”
